The, where our sisters are already working in the hospital at Chojny are the main inspiration and cause of our being at Warsaw. Bro. Franciszek Chmiel , the superior of Chojny made a proposition to Sr. Ignatius , when she was on her visit to Poland . Brothers wanted our sisters to have in the Home for the aged at Warsaw. Thinking over this invitation sr. Boniface consulted Rev. mother Bendicta Lobo since there was a positive answer , on 8th of December 2001 Srs. Boniface and Leena Pinto together with the superior Bro. Franciszek went to Warsaw. The superior of the house , expressed the desire to have the sisters as early as possible.

Sr. Boniface came to meet the parish priest of Pabianice Fr. Slowomir Ciebiad to tell him about our plan and to know his mind. He showed his full interest to help the sisters in all the way possible to leave the place , to sell the house and for other formalities. On the 23 rd of July 2002 the community from Pabianice shifted to Warsaw ( Capital of Poland).

St. Charles Community, Warsaw

The community at Warsaw, the capital of Poland came into existence when we responded positively to the invitation by the Superior of the Congregation of the Brothers of John of God. Our sister nurses were already working in their hospital at Chojny. The Superior Br. Franciszek Chmiel wanted our sisters to work in the Home for the Aged at Warsaw. As the first community established in Pabianice had no specific apostolate to earn their living this invitation was warmly welcomed by the regional superior and permission was also granted by the Superior General, Mother Benedicta. Besides we had qualified sister nurses who required employment. This offer was presented to us end of 2001 and after the sale of the house at Pabianice, the sisters shifted to Warsaw on 23rd July 2002.
The Superior Br. Franciszek Chmiel of the St. John of God was please to accommodate the sisters in a part of their building with due renovation and alteration to form a community of 3 sisters. The house and the chapel were blessed on August 2nd, 2002. Sr. Leena Pinto, Sr. Diana D’souza and Reny Fernandes were the pioneers of the Mission . In fidelity to the charism of the Congregation, the sisters were engaged in looking after the old and sick people. The sisters continue to render their generous service to the satisfaction of the Brothers of St. John of God and to the contentment of the sick and the aged.

The sisters’ spiritual needs are met with daily Eucharistic celebration in the chapel of the brothers. Sisters also join them for all the other spiritual exercises such as adoration, prayer of the church, rosary etc. They also attend to the spiritual needs of the patients. Their meals are supplied by the hospital canteen and so it is an advantage in view of their prolonged hospital duties like 12 hours shift.

This community situated in Warsaw has the advantage of welcoming sisters traveling abroad being close to the airport and also for other official work like pertaining to passport, visa etc. Due to the prolonged working shift system, sisters are unable to extend their services to parish or any other apostolate.
