The bishop of Guntur Rev.Dr.Gali Bali had the aim of starting school in order to elevate the people of Ponnappalli and its surrounding, in moral and Christian values by eradicating their ignorance by founding Catholic institutions. He invited us the congregation of the Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo to start a new school in Cherukupalli mandal. Sr.Lovina & Sr. Clara were the pioneers of this mission.

We the family of St.Charles gathered together on 13th of June 2007, at 7’o clock at Ponnapalli, Mary Rose Buds High School to have the new mission blessed. Rev.Sr.Jaya the Provincial of Eastern province and her councilors Srs.Josita, Lilly.K, Punitha.M and Mary Queen, the parish priest Rev.Fr.Bala Showri Reddy and our sisters from Chilakaluripet and Kanaparru were present. At 10 A.M we all gathered in the new school building. We had a small prayer service. Many parents and 72 children were there on that day.

90% of the parents are illiterate, poor and marginalized. Most of them are daily wage earners. In 2014 we started a boarding home for girls who are sponsored by Mary Rose Bud Trust. At present we have 54 catholic girls residing in our boarding home. We have regular Catechism classes for them. Every year the new girls coming to the boarding receive the Holy Communion on Church feast day. We are also actively involved in visiting the houses and people attending the Church services are increasing in number and we encourage them to be faithful. We have a great hope to nurture vocations for our Congregation.

In a new venture to develop the School the diocese has appointed the new Parish Priest Rev.Fr.Showreddy to be the correspondent and to manage the financial affairs, which is a welcome plan as Rev.Fr.Showreddy is the patron of the School who operates the sponsorship program of Rose Bud Trust. New policies have been developed to have a smooth running of the institution which is yet to commence in actuality.
