Finance

Our temporal goods are a gift from God to us and therefore they should be treated with gratitude, respect and care and used with prudence in view of our mission. The administration in the congregation must bear the hallmark of a combination of trust in Divine providence, hard work, sharing, inter-dependence, justice, austerity, transparency and accountability.
Give to God what is God’s and to Caesar what is Caesar’s. Stewardship ministry is a high calling from God. Scripture repeatedly calls us ‘Stewards” of God’s grace, of life, of possessions. In this sense administration of goods is not an abstract concept but an integral part of religious life.

In matters of finance, we need to build transparency and solidarity, not just as a means of supporting the works of the congregation but as a part of the call of religious life.

Both individual religious and communities are called to move away from individualism and focus on living in communion.

The main components of financial Management are:

Planning and budgeting

Accounting and Record keeping.

Reporting and Monitoring.

Evaluation.

The general bursar acts as a chief adviser to the general and her council in all financial business matters, Keeps the general and council informed about the state of financial affairs of the congregation and of global trends affecting finances and many other works of the Commission.

The provincial bursar fulfills her role in a network of roles that constitute the provincial council of which she is a member. The local bursar is responsible to keep a record of all expenses and income to see that the resources of the community are administered prudently and in keeping with the Spirit of poverty.

The finance commission of all the provinces and regions is a body established to serve the province and region better in the field of Finance and administration. The role of this commission is mainly one of reflection, study, research and information. It can make suggestions, but has no power on decision making.
