The Congregation of The Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo, established their community in Patne in 30.10.1999. For about 5 years sisters lived in a parish house and later the blessing of the newly constructed building was on 13.04.2005. Patne Parish had 236 parishioners only and review the faith of the faithful the then Bishop of Belgaum, Rt. Rev. Bernard Moras invited the sisters and the pioneering community sisters at Patne were Sr. Justine Lobo, Sr. Lucy Miranda and Sr. Florine Rego.

Patne is a very isolated village lacking in opportunities for education and employment. Therefore along with the faith formation of the catholic faithful the priority was to work the development programs too. Empowering women of their dignity and rights was also a necessary. The healthcare of women and children was largely neglected in this area.

Ever since the arrival of the sisters in this mission, they have been visiting the Patne and nearby villages, actively involved in Socio Pastoral apostolate. Sisters have formed Self Help Groups, and conduct Tuition classes, have a Pre Primary school.
