A short history of our convent – Eraiyur
We are happy to share with you about our new mission in Eraiyur in the archdiocese of Pondicherry Cuddalore. With an invitation from our Archbishop Rev.Dr. Anandarayer we have started our community and College in the Catholic village of Eraiyur. Our village is situated in Ulundurpet Taluk and in Kallakuruchi Dist.
On 15th June 2019 our new community was officially inaugurated in an rented house by Rev.Sr. Amali Anbarasi. Provincial Eastern Province and her council members along with sisters from our neighbouring communities (Chennai, Yelagiri Hills, Jolarpet, Ranipet, Tirupattur and Yercaud ) The pioneers of this community are Sr.Punitha.M, Sr.V.Arockia Mary and Sr.Cynthia.R. Sr. punitha is the animator of the community, Sr.V.Arockia, Vocation Promoter of the Province and Sr.Cynthia.R works in the college.
The installation of the new community was signified by the Eucharistic celebration by Rev.Fr. Albert and concelebrated by Rev.Fr. Joseph Antony Samy SJ, the founder Principal of our college and other priests from our parish too were present. During the Eucharistic celebration, a special prayer was said for the pioneers and lamps were lit to identify them with the light of Christ and to be a light in the darkness of life of others in their mission.
Our main mission here is to prepare women who are empowered with knowledge, skills and values of love, compassion, integrity, service etc. to be competent, committed and creative for the development of a more just social order in an atmosphere of intellectual verve and moral integrity through qualitative higher education for women.
On 21st August,2019 Our college was blessed by Rev. Dr. Anandarayer, Archbishop of Cuddalore – Pondicherry, V.G, Fathers from our Diocese, the priests of this soil and our community sisters of our province, sisters from different congregation.
We obtained NOC for the college on 28th August 2019 from the government of TamilNadu. The inspection from Thiruvalluvar University was on 30th of August. The team members were from different colleges affiliated to Thiruvalluvar University and from the university.
We obtained affiliation of our College on 9th September 2019 from the university. We have enrolled 49 students in four different streams. ( B.A English, B.Com, B.Sc Mathematics and B.Sc Computer Science).
To make the College an ideal institution for forming young women to become responsible generation. Educate, Enlighten, Empower is the motto of our institution.
St. Charles College of Arts & Science aims to bring about the wholesome transformation of women with a well-balanced moral, social and spiritual outlook.
We continue to go forward with the strength of the Lord in proclaiming His message of love and compassion through our mission of Higher Education and other ministries.
